Kimberly Markovic
Head Coach: Elites & Optionals

Kimberly Markovic, known to her athletes as Coach Kimmy, brings a wealth of experience to East Bay Gymnastics, combining her background as a competitive gymnast, dancer, and dedicated coach with a passion for holistic athlete development. Kimmy began her gymnastics journey at the age of six, training and competing up to the elite level. She was recruited by the University of Florida, but an injury led her to transition into coaching at the young age of 15, where she started by guiding levels 2-5.

Her athletic background is enriched by her dance training, which started at age three and includes ballet, lyrical, modern, jazz, and hip-hop. Attending a magnet school with a dance focus, she studied the history and techniques of each style, which laid the foundation for her ongoing work as a choreographer. Kimmy has continued performing and creating dance routines, which she incorporates into her gymnastics coaching.

Coach Kimmy graduated from Cornell University with a degree in Nutrition, adding another dimension to her coaching philosophy. She is passionate about nurturing the whole athlete through a focus on proper nutrition, injury prevention, strength, flexibility, skill progressions, and mental well-being. She prioritizes open communication with both parents and athletes, aiming to build confidence and support long-term happiness in and beyond the sport.

Her expertise in recovery and flexibility extends to her background in yoga, having studied and taught it for several years, including as Yoga Director for BARWIS Methods. While living in St. Petersburg, Florida, Kimmy worked with the pro soccer team, the Rowdies, providing yoga and recovery sessions to their players and other professional athletes.

Kimmy has also held notable coaching roles at premier gymnastics programs. She spent over a decade at American Twisters in South Florida, where she coached levels 6-Elite, specializing in beam, floor, conditioning, and flexibility. She later became the Team Coordinator, developing the team program and starting the TOPS and Elite program, where two of her athletes were invited to the National Team Training Camp.

After finishing her schooling, she continued coaching at American Twisters before being recruited by WOGA, one of the world’s most renowned gyms known for producing Olympic champions, world champions, and top NCAA athletes. At WOGA, she coached pre-team through elite, refining her coaching across all events with a focus on helping athletes achieve their full potential.

At East Bay Gymnastics, Coach Kimmy brings her rich experience, commitment to athlete well-being, and her passion for individualized training. She focuses on building a positive environment where athletes are supported in their physical, mental, and emotional growth, helping them succeed both in their sport and in life. Her blend of elite coaching, nutrition expertise, and dedication to holistic development makes her an invaluable asset to the EBG team.
