Can I try a class?

We offer one free class for new students. How many classes per week can my child take?

That is up to you and your schedule and budget. The more often your child attends, the quicker they progress.  We offer 10% off the second & third class tuition.

How do I register for a class?

Registrations are completed online through our ParentPortal. If your child is a new student, please use our online New Student Registration.

Please note that when you sign up for a class, you are signing up for a class day, time, and level, not the instructor. Instructors may change, but our intention is to keep instructors as consistent as possible.

Do your classes have waitlists?

Many of our classes may have a waitlist to enroll. If there is no waitlist for the class, we can enroll your child for the next available class date. If there are no spaces available, students are allowed to be on a maximum of 3 waitlists.  We will contact families, via email, from the waitlist as space becomes available.

Can we join a class mid-month? Will my fees be adjusted?

Yes! Our programs are year-round and can be entered into at any time of the year for recreational students. Your child’s monthly tuition will be prorated appropriately if they start the class in the middle of the month. East Bay Gymnastics does not prorate fees for absences or missed classes.

Is there a membership fee?

East Bay Gymnastics has a $40 non-refundable annual membership fee ($60 for family membership) that is due for each child prior to starting any class. This fee includes secondary coverage through our liability Insurance and is required for all students. Membership fees are renewed each year on the anniversary of your child’s enrollment.

How do I make a payment?

We accept Visa or MasterCard for monthly tuition. A credit card must be kept on file to be used for Automatic Payments. Automatic payments will be run on the 25th of each month, for the next month’s tuition. Tuition not paid prior to your first class of the month will result in your child being dropped from the class.  You may log into ParentPortal to make a payment and update your payment method.

When do I pay?

Tuition is always due on the 25th of the month for the next month’s tuition and late on the 1st of the month. We have an annual membership fee which you pay when you join. This fee renews  annually for everyone in the gym.

Do you prorate for Holidays or gym closures?

We do not prorate tuition for holidays or gym closures.

What should my child wear?

There are no requirements for attire. It is best to wear something comfortable and stretchy without buttons or zippers. We do have a Pro Shop that sells gymnastics attire. Gymnasts go barefoot.  Hair should be tied back.  No jewelry, stud earrings are fine.

How many students are in a class?

It varies by age. Our Parent & Me class has an 8:1 student to teacher ratio…Our other preschool classes have a capacity of 6 children.  Our Recreational classes have a capacity of 8.

What is the difference between gymnastics class and tumbling classes?

Gymnastics classes teach all the Olympic events: vault, bars, beam & floor. Tumbling classes are strictly floor skills such as back handsprings, roundoffs, etc. They are taught on our spring floor and trampolines. Tumbling classes start at age 6.

Will I be able to see my child during practice?

Yes, you will be able to see your child at all times. We have an upstairs viewing area. We also have video feeds of our back and ballet rooms.   We do request that a parent stay in the facility when their child is in class if they are less than 5 years, in case they need to use the restroom or have other issues.

Can I go out onto the floor when my child is in class?

Due to safety concerns and liability, we are unable to accommodate parents in the gym other than in a parent participation class.  We also ask that you refrain from coaching your child while they are in class.

Can I just drop in for a class?

No, in order to maintain our student/teacher ratio you must be enrolled in a class.

Can I make-up a class if my child is absent?

All athletes will have one month from the date of absence to schedule a makeup. They can either come to our open gym opportunities, or schedule a make-up class. All make-up scheduling must be done with our front desk staff. For open gym, scheduling can be done ahead of time, or on the day of attendance. Scheduling for a make-up class must be done at least 24h in advance.

Our family will be gone on vacation, can you hold my child’s spot?

East Bay Gymnastics does not have a “hold policy”. Monthly tuition is required to remain active in classes. If you do not wish to pay regular monthly tuition to guarantee your child’s spot, you must submit a cancellation notice at least 14 days prior to the month you would like to cancel (See cancellation policy). If you know you are leaving for an extended period of time, you can place your child on waiting lists for the same level class, ahead of time, in order to increase your chances of getting back into classes upon your return. All students can be on up to three waiting lists at one time.

What is your drop/cancellation policy?

You may cancel your membership by written request via email or in person with the front desk by the 15th of the month to avoid being charged for the upcoming month. For competitive teams we require a 30 day cancellation notice.

Do you offer discounts?

We offer a 10% military discount and a sibling discount of 10% for the first sibling, and each sibling thereafter.  Children enrolled in more than one class per week will receive a 10% discount on the second class.

EBG offers Open Gym. For kids age 6 and older we have Workout Wednesdays from 6:30-8:00.

For our younger friends 5 and under we offer Pop N Play, every Tuesday & Friday from 11:00-12:00.

Workout Wednesday is $15/person and Pop n’ Play is $12/person and you don’t need to be an EBG member to attend.  We just need to have a waiver on file, EBG Waiver.

How does progression through the levels work? How can my child become part of the competitive team?

Our preschool classes (PK3, PK4 & K5) curriculums have been curated to be developmentally age appropriate. Our preschool classes focus on basic gymnastics skills and focus on listening and following directions, a major part of being a candidate for our team program.   Our Recreational curriculum is skill based and students will be moved to the next level when they can successfully and routinely perform all the skills on all four events that are part of our EBG curriculum.  All skills for that level must be consistently mastered before the student is promoted to the next level. Students can be promoted to the next level at any point in the year once they have the skills required.

As a student progresses to the upper levels they may be invited to Pre Team and then Team.  Our Team program is by invite only.

Can I do private lessons?

Yes, if you are enrolled in a class at EBG you can take private lessons. Privates are arranged & paid directly with the coach.  If you are not a current member of EBG, you must become an EBG member and pay the annual membership fee before you can do privates.

When is my child evaluated?

Students are continuously being evaluated during their classes. We provide families with Progress Reports periodically through the year to provide feedback on their student’s current progress in the class. In skill-based classes, students can be promoted to the next level at any point in the year once they have the skills required for the next level.

If you would like feedback on your child’s progress, please speak to your child’s coach before or after class.

How do I speak to my child’s coaches?

Please speak to our office staff to let them know you wish to speak to your child’s coach. They will let your coach know to speak to your family before or after class.
